FORSYTH COUNTY -- With the holidays winding down, Forsyth County residents will have a chance to safely and sustainably get rid of their live Christmas trees.
Starting Monday, several locations will be open to drop off Christmas trees for Forsyth County’s annual Bring One for the Chipper event.
“Forsyth County has recycled 101,242 Christmas trees since the county began participating in the ‘Bring One for the Chipper’ program in 1994,” Environmental Program Manager Tammy Wright said in a news release. “All of the Christmas trees brought to us for recycling have either been placed in the lake as fish habitat or chipped into reusable mulch. We look forward to keeping trees out of landfills every year.”
Last year the county recycled 3,380 trees, and wood chips made from the trees are available for county residents on a first-come, first-served basis at Coal Mountain Park, located at 3560 Settingdown Road. Residents must load and haul their own chips.
