Downed lines shut down Peachtree Parkway at South Forsyth High
FCSO

*** UPDATE (4:22 p.m.): SOUTH FORSYTH -- Peachtree Parkway is now open in both directions.

---

2:50 p.m.

The intersection of Ronald Reagan Parkway and Peachtree Parkway is closed due to downed telephone lines near South Forsyth High School.

Cpl. Peter Sabella with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office said both lanes of Peachtree Parkway (Hwy. 141) are closed between Majors Road and Ronald Reagan Boulevard due to the downed lines.

No cause has yet been determined for the downed lines, but Sabella said it was not caused by an auto accident.

He said the lines were down near the area of South Forsyth High School. Sabella said those exiting school are safely able to leave the school through the entrance on Ronald Reagan.

Traffic along Peachtree Parkway is being diverted, and Sabella recommended taking Ronald Reagan to Majors Road to reach the unaffected portions of Peachtree Parkway.

No timeframe for the reopening of the road has been set, but the company responsible for the line has been notified and is on the scene.

South Forsyth High School administrators have notified parents and students via social media that they have adjusted release times today as follows:

* Student drivers are being released at 3:15.

* Bus riders will be released at normal time.

* Car riders will be released at 3:45. The school asks parents not to arrive on campus until after 4 p.m. to pick up students.
