Forsyth County Schools will be closed Monday, Jan. 9 due to continued winter weather conditions.
“There are numerous roads in the county that are still covered in ice that do not allow for safe bus, staff and student travel,” the district announced Sunday about 6:30 p.m.
Monday will be an online learning day, with elementary schools follow an A schedule and middle and high schools following their normal schedule.
All 240-day staff should report on Monday if conditions permit safe travel.
The Forsyth County Board of Education called meeting will be held as scheduled, but at the district’s administrative office where they are normally held.

Forsyth County Schools nixed snow days from its calendar in 2015, opting for students to use an online learning system called itslearning that allows classes to continue remotely.
The district used the asynchronous – meaning not at the same time – virtual learning portal for the first time on a grand scale in January 2014 when school was out for several days due to snow, ice and cold temperatures.
