Forsyth County Schools will follow an early release schedule Friday, Jan. 6 due to an incoming winter weather storm.
High schools will let out at 12:55 p.m., middle schools will release at 1:30 p.m., elementary 1 schools will get out at 11:50 a.m. and elementary 2 schools will let students go at 12:30 p.m., according to the school system.
Elementary 1 schools are: Big Creek, Brandywine, Brookwood, Chattahoochee, Chestatee, Coal Mountain, Cumming, Haw Creek, Kelly Mill, Matt, Settles Bridge, Sharon, Shiloh Point and Vickery Creek.
Elementary 2 schools are: Daves Creek, Johns Creek, Mashburn, Midway, Sawnee, Silver City and Whitlow.
The district announced Thursday afternoon that all after-school activities and athletics are canceled Friday through Sunday, Jan. 8.
The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning from 4 p.m. Friday through 1 p.m. Saturday, with anywhere between 2-7 inches of snow possible with rain earlier, creating the possibility for slick and hazardous road conditions.
A mix of rain and snow is expected to begin falling early Friday evening and will turn into all snow after 7 p.m., ending from west to east through Saturday morning.
