Forsyth County’s YMCA has a fresh face in its midst, having recently hired a new director.

Kim Looby, who previously served as a nonprofit consultant with Triangle2 Solutions, has worked with both local and national YMCAs for 25 years.

“After a thorough search, it was clear we had found top talent in Kim,” said Jeff Anderson, Forsyth County’s YMCA board chairman. “Her depth of experience, along with her significant and proven track record, will build upon an already existing enthusiastic and strong Y team. As we embark on our second decade in the community, Kim will work to continue building our community, our membership and our mission. We are very fortunate to have her serve as our new executive director.”

Looby previously led fundraising efforts at two YMCAs, one of which grew the facility by 180 percent.

She also secured $1.2 million in capital for a 10,000-square-foot teen center.

The second fundraiser was a startup campaign for a YMCA in a low- to middle-income community that previously has a very small membership base.

Because of those local successes, Looby was chosen as a National Network Consultant for the YMCA of the USA.

Despite her work on the national level, Looby said she is looking forward to working in the county.

“It is great to be back in the metro Atlanta area working for the YMCA of Metro Atlanta where I not only began my Y career, but grew up,” she said. “In my younger years, my family spent many hours at the Decatur Family YMCA. I am excited about the opportunity to serve and lead the Forsyth Family YMCA as we continue to strengthen our areas of impact - youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

“Our three pillars position the Y as a community leader through the delivery of high quality programs that instill strong values and leadership abilities in our youth, improve the health and well-being of our community and encourage all of us to help and care for our neighbors in need.”
