Police: Teen drowns in lake during party at Alpharetta home
emergency

ALPHARETTA, Ga. (AP) — A teenager who disappeared from a house party in Alpharetta has been found dead in a nearby lake.

Alpharetta police spokesman George Gordon tells local media that authorities believe 18-year-old Chamberlain Ivey drowned Sunday.

Gordon says officers responded early Sunday to a "large party" at an Alpharetta home. Party attendees told officers that Ivey was missing from the gathering, and said it was the second time he had wandered off.

Neighbors reported hearing a splash in nearby Lake Windward.

Police searched the area and then summoned a boat from the Alpharetta fire department. Ivey's body was eventually found underwater near the back of a residence.

Gordon says police are investigating if "illegal narcotics" were related to Ivey's death.

He says other attendees of the party were taken to the hospital.
